Research Assistant (Cell Biology and Mice Work)

A Research Assistant position is available in the laboratory of Associate Professor Thirumaran Thanabalu, School of Biological Sciences, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. The project will focus on identifying factors which determine the cancer susceptibility of a transgenic mice generated in the laboratory. The research assistant will be responsible for administrative and logistical upkeep pertaining to laboratory operations, carryout experiments as planned by the supervisor.

Job Description:
  • Produce and maintain mice required for the experiments to be conducted
  • Identify the mice with the desired genotype using standard molecular biology techniques and determine the cancer susceptibility of the mice using standard cancer biology assays
  • Determine the microbiota of the mice with various genotypes. The role of gut microbiome in cancer will be determined by transplantation of gut microbiome in mice


Job Requirements:
  • BSc in Biological Sciences or related fields
  • Prior Biological science laboratory experience is necessary
  • Prior experience in handling mice in not necessary but preferred
