The Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS) at Nanyang Technological University seeks a Research Assistant/Associate to take on the responsibility of processing and analyzing Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) data to support the tectonic and volcanic research within the Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS)'s InVEST program -- Integrating Volcano and Earthquake Science and Technology in Southeast Asia.

The candidate will work under the supervision of Asst Prof FENG Lujia. The candidate will communicate regularly with staff from the Centre for Geohazard Observations (CGO) regarding GNSS data and will collaborate with researchers from the 'Integrating Volcano and Earthquake Science and Technology (InVEST) in Southeast Asia' project, a 5-year project that aims to provide a holistic understanding of regional tectonics, volcanoes, the linkages between the two, and their cascading hazards and impacts in Singapore and Southeast Asia. We will be hiring many research staff and students to work on this project, so it promises to be a very exciting time to join our team!

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process EOS's own GNSS data to produce position time series, inspect anomalous signals, and report issues with EOS GNSS stations
  • Search, download, and process external GNSS data, and provide customized products to support research of InVEST scientists
  • Compare results from different GNSS software
  • Provide rapid position solutions in the event of earthquakes or volcanic eruptions
  • Assist in conducting GNSS campaigns and processing survey GNSS data
  • Support CGO GNSS station installation
  • Conduct basic GNSS training for EOS staff, domestic and regional collaborators
  • Explore new GNSS processing strategies for innovations such as sea-floor geodesy
  • Process and analyze data from other geophysical instruments

Job Requirements:
  • B.S. in geodesy, surveying, geophysics, geomatics, electrical engineering, computer science, natural hazards, or a related field
  • Demonstrate skills or strong interest in GNSS theory and processing
  • Experience with geodetic data sets
  • Strong expertise in computer programming
  • Excellent language and communication skills
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively, with a strong team spirit

Interested applicants should submit a cover letter, CV, list of publications, and statement of research interests.

We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
