A Project Officer position as a synthetic and medicinal chemist is available in the Division of Chemistry and Biological Chemistry at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), to work on the synthesis of biologically active natural products and their analogs.

Job Responsibilities

• Design syntheses of the target compounds and to carry out the syntheses within the allocated time frame. Your will work will include spectroscopic characterisation
• Liaise with collaborators for biological screening
• Supervise junior researchers and students involved with the project
• Assist with various tasks, including administrative tasks, necessary for the smooth running of the laboratory

Job Requirements

• BSs in Chemistry
• Experience of synthetic organic chemistry, especially complex molecules and stereochemical issues. These include carrying out air sensitive reactions, stereo- and regioselective chemistry, spectroscopic methods (hands-on and interpretational, including NMR, IR and MS) purification techniques and mechanism-based reaction trouble shooting
• Communication skils, both written and oral
• Problem solving skills
• Leadership skills
