The School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering (MAE) is looking for a skilled and motivated Research Fellowfor research in medical robotics. This project involves designing, fabrication and testing of medical robot system. Applicants with strong background in mechatronics, biomedical robotics or other relevant topics are encouraged to apply. Specifically, the medical robot system is developed for the urinary system and GI tract. Candidate should have proficiency in medical robot, compliant structure, continuum robot arm or soft robot gripper. The candidate also needs to prepare and meet the project deliveries and milestones.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Research of applicable design, manufacturing methods and evaluation standards
  • Work closely with the medical experts to improve the prototype
  • Plan and conduct animal studies with the medical experts
  • Responsible for project management & coordination within the group
  • To prepare and meet the project deliveries and milestones
  • To advance the knowledge, to publish in leading journals and conferences


Job Requirements:
  • PhD in Mechatronics, Robotics, Biomedical or related field and a promising publication (or patent) record
  • Familiar with any of the following: medical robot, compliant structure, continuum robot arm or soft robot gripper.
  • Good robot system integration and application experiences.
  • Creative and independent in problem solving
  • Strong publication record and commitment to quality research
  • Team player with good interpersonal/communication skills
