The School of Social Sciences is looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral Research Fellow who will work with Dr. Peipei SETOH, Psychology, School of Social Sciences, Nanyang Technological University and Dr. Henning TIEMEIER, School of Public Health, Harvard University.

The current line of research examines how child social-emotional and cognitive development is influenced by cultural contexts and family socialization. Ultimately, the goal is to inform parenting interventions and family policies to improve parenting skills and children's well-being. The lab collaborates with Singapore's largest scale birth cohort study, Growing Up in Singapore Towards Healthy Outcomes (GUSTO).

This fellowship provides substantial opportunities for new PhDs seeking significant experience, mentorship, and networking, as well as close collaboration with the Principal Investigators and considerable involvement in authorship of abstracts, presentations, and manuscripts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage in academic activities (prepare manuscripts, reports, grants, and present findings in national and international conferences)
  • Perform research duties (e.g., managing the lab's IRB protocol, research grant administration and accounting, maintain budgets, submit reimbursement requests, database management, data cleaning, data processing)
  • Recruit, train and supervise undergraduate research assistants and graduate students
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams of researchers and stakeholders from a wide range of fields, including developmental psychology, education, in collaboration with clinical experts in general and developmental-behavioral pediatrics.
  • Provide general support to researchers in the lab
  • Assist in teaching of Developmental Psychology at Nanyang Technological University.


Job Requirements:
  • Ph.D. in developmental psychology, developmental cognitive neuroscience, or a related discipline
  • Research experience in early cognitive development / implementation science
  • Excellent statistical abilities, demonstrated proficiency in statistical language (e.g, Stata, R)
  • Applied research skills in methodology development and data analysis
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills are essential
  • Good team player, excellent communication and public relations skills
  • Ability to work independently, under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Candidate should be willing to make a 2-year commitment
