The Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS) at Nanyang technological University in Singapore invites applications for the position of Project Officer to support the SouthEast Asia SEA-level (SEA2) Program. The SEA2 Program is an interdisciplinary research programme that integrates sea-level datasets in Southeast Asia with sophisticated modelling capabilities to improve the accuracy of projections of sea-level rise and extreme sea levels, as well as their impact on coastal communities.

We are looking for someone with a passion for making Singapore and Southeast Asia a safer and more sustainable place in the face of climate change, sea-level rise, and their associate hazards, through supporting and communicating critical research on sea-level science.

Key Responsibilities
  • Organise and coordinate all quarterly meetings and annual meetings for the programme.
  • Craft, curate and edit the programme's newsletter for dissemination once every two months.
  • Assist with report writing and project management
  • Communicate research outcomes to relevant stakeholders, including academics, government agencies and the public, in other forms, including annual reports, social media and other external communications.
  • Assist with activity planning, progress tracking and organisation of academic events, such as research visits and conference events, as needed.
  • Support in various public engagement activities with the EOS Community Engagement Office, such as events and conference activities, where possible
  • Participate in and contribute to weekly meetings.
  • Provide research support as needed.


Requirements:
  • BSc degree in Earth Sciences, Geography, Environmental Studies, Communications, Public Policy, or another related field.
  • Very well organised, with experience in project management and communications.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, in order to write clear, jargon-free, and accurate reports about scientific content for a wide range of audience
  • Demonstrates self-leadership and proactiveness.
  • Able to work closely with other researchers and scientists (team player) to achieve desired objectives.
  • Evidence of being able to work both independently and collaboratively, with a strong team spirit.
  • Experience with event coordination and project management is desirable.
  • Familiarity with and interest in environmental sciences, sea-level rise, climate change and disaster analytics is desirable.
  • be proactive and self-driven, with strong work ethics and collaborative skills
