A Research Fellow position is currently available at the Centre for Disruptive Photonic Technologies in the School of Physical & Mathematical Sciences, Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

The position will provide the successful candidate with valuable experience for a career in the Photonics and Nanotechnology sectors.

The Research Fellow will be interacting with Research Fellows and PhD students and will directly reporting to and closely working with ASTAR-NSLA project grant Lead investigator, CDPT deputy director and programme manager. This may also require working with visiting researchers, students and travelling internationally to conduct collaborative work.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out the research activities of the CDPT, within the ASTAR "Nano Spatial Light Modulator programme" project grant.
  • Carry out experimental studies of the perovskite metasurfaces and metadevices for light emission.
  • Perform nanooptoelectronic experiments on novel designs and architectures for light-emitting perovskite metadevices.
  • Generate a substantial body of novel experimental, theoretical and numerical work in nano-optoelectronic devices using perovskites, as defined by the ASTAR research programme. This may also require working with visiting researchers, students and travelling internationally to conduct collaborative work.
  • Contribute in running and maintaining the Infrared Nanophotonics laboratory at CDPT.
  • Manage the interactions with local (ASTAR) and international collaborators of the project.
  • Participate in joint research with other CDTP partners and cooperating parties and to support CDPT projects requiring fabrication, assembling and testing of the devices.
  • Contribute in preparation of progress reports, as well as attendance at regular project meetings (and participation in organizing such meetings) and research conferences.
  • Contribute to the organisation and day-to-day smooth running of the CDTP, to assist in the supervision of PhD students.

  • PhD in Physics, Optical Engineering, Material Science, or closely-related disciplines
  • Solid knowledge and in depth understanding of device photophysics, optics, nano-optics, nanophotonics, electromagnetic waves propagation;
  • Experience with perovskite optoelectronic device fabrication (from film synthesis and deposition to electrical connectivity and electrical characteristic measurements)
  • Experience with spectroscopic characterization setups and systems.
  • Experience with nanoscopic fabrication, phase change thin film growth technologies, and characterization tools and methods such as e.g. FIB/SEM, optical lithography etc
  • Good track record of scientific publications in international peer reviewed journals
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong initiative
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
