A Research Associate in Mathematics position is currently available in the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS).

Key Responsibilities:

• Geometric Modelling
• Geophysical Fluid Dynamics
• Structure Preserving Numerical Methods.
• Theoretical development in the area of modelling for geophysical fluid dynamics
• Numerical implementation of derived models
• Analysis and discussion of the results
• Writing of scientific articles
• Interaction with the members of the research group and researchers in Geoscience
• Presentation of the results

Job Requirements:

• Master in Mathematics
• Basic knowledge in Geophysical Fluid Dynamics
• Solid knowledge of tools from Differential Geometry (Manifolds and Tensor Analysis, Lie Groups, Geometric Structures)
• Solid knowledge of techniques from Structure Preserving Numerical Discretization of ODEs and PDEs
• Solid knowledge of programming languages such as Matlab, Python, Fortran, FEniCS, Firedrake.
