A Research Assistant position is currently available in the Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS) under Wang Xianfeng research group. This position is part of an MOE Tier 2 research project hosted by EOS. The Research Assistant will help advance research in geochemistry analysis and the analytical instruments operation to understand the interactions between climate changes, natural hazards, human impacts, and ecosystems. This is a one-year appointment and potentially renewable based on performance and funding availability.

EOS is a research centre at NTU with a mission to conduct fundamental research on earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, and climate change in and around Southeast Asia, towards safer and more sustainable societies. For more information on EOS, please visit http://www.earthobservatory.sg.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate the analytical instruments in labs and fields
• Do analytical data compilation and statistical analyses
• Assist with tasks related to research benchmarking as required by funding entity. This will involve activities not limited to collecting data, coding tasks, research collation and part time research assistants research collaborations
• Participate in the research projects related to climate and environment studies

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor in Earth Sciences or Environmental Sciences
• Willing to conduct field work when necessary
• Some basic knowledge of environmental analysis and climatic sciences is preferred but not required
• Some experience with statistical analysis and common programming languages is preferred but not required
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, well organized, and high work efficiency
