Senior Executive, Clinical Research Officer (Biobanking) in the Health Screening Centre

Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) is looking for a full-time Senior Executive, Clinical Research Officer (Biobanking) for the Health for Life in Singapore (HELIOS) Study. This study is undertaken jointly by LKCMedicine, National Healthcare Group and Imperial College of London (www.healthforlife.sg). It aims to profile the health and behaviour of people from the general Singapore population. The scope of the study is segmented into (1) surveys on health, lifestyle and dietary habits, (2) physical and functional measurements (e.g. anthropometry, grip strength, exercise test, spirometry, ECG, optical imaging and pulse wave velocity) and (3) investigating biomarkers for chronic diseases. We have just received funding for Phase 2 of the study and are expanding our biobanking team to allow the study to reach out to more people.

The Senior Executive, Clinical Research Officer will play a key role in supporting the study, mainly in, but not limited to, the following roles:
  • Receive and process biological samples for banking purposes; with accuracy and in a timely manner without compromising sample quality.
  • Assist in frozen sample retrieval and sorting.
  • Perform nucleic acid (DNA and RNA) extraction and quantification.
  • Perform daily routine measurements on analytical systems.
  • Monitor quality standards by verifying equipment function through routine equipment maintenance, running daily quality controls and calibrations.
  • Perform general administrative work such as tracking the supply of daily consumables and coordinate with vendors/suppliers on procurement matters.
  • Able to commit to rotating shifts; afternoon shifts on weekdays, and on Saturdays.


Training will be provided to level the skillsets needed to perform these roles.

Candidates should have:
  • Diploma/degree in biomedical sciences, biotechnology or related fields
  • Relevant professional experience with technical laboratory operations (advantage)
  • A positive attitude and work ethics, and is a team player
  • The ability to learn new skills, which is an essential attribute to succeed in this role
  • A sense of responsibility, detailed and meticulous, pro-active and a self-starter
