Research Fellow/ Research Associate/ Research Assistant (Biomedical Engineering/ Human Neuroscience)

The College of Business, Nanyang Business School is looking for a candidate to join them as a Research Fellow/ Research Associate/ Research Assistant for wearable technologies measuring psychophysiological signals.

Join the vibrant team at the Decision, Environmental and Organizational Neuroscience Lab (DEON) at NTU. We are at the forefront of developing cutting-edge algorithms and technologies for wearable and neuroscience devices, as well as advanced computerized testing for psychological testing. Our focus is to unravel the intricacies of human performance and cognition in both experimental and real-life scenarios.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Translate our algorithms and experiments in software and hardware implementations, whereby the focus is more on the technological, implementation and developmental aspects of wearable devices and computerized testing.
  • Develop software that integrates signals from hardware (such as wearable sensors) with software applications that extract, report and save data.
  • Develop web-based applications such as simple chatbots or simple computerized games


Job Requirements:
  • For Research Fellow position: Ph.D. in Biomedical or Electrical Engineering or Computer science. PhDs with expertise in human neuroscience (EEG or Physiology) will also be considered.
  • For Research Associate / Assistant position: M.Sc./ B.Sc. in Biomedical, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Strong expertise in (or keen interest to learn) wearable technology development is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in major programming languages (Python, Java, Javascript, C++), signal processing, API usage, integration, and familiarity with hardware implementation (e.g., Bluetooth Low Energy protocols).
  • Preferably with experience or ability to develop simple computer games or APIs (complex graphics expertise not required).


DEON Lab is now involved in many research and industry-based projects on this topic, so you will have many opportunities to expand similar technology to different domains and applications. You will be part of an innovative team that encourages exploration and welcomes entrepreneurial ideas for potential start-ups. It will be a 18- to 24-month contract with many opportunities for renewal in similar roles.
