The Insurance Risk and Finance Research Centre (IRFRC) at College of Business, Nanyang Business School is currently looking for a Senior Research Fellow (SRF) to lead research in a mortality and health risk independently.

IRFRC sponsors and directs research on insurance and insurance-related risk research in Asia Pacific. It is the academic partner of Global-Asia Insurance Partnership (GAIP), a tripartite partnership between the global insurance industry, regulators and policymakers, and academia.

The successful candidate will be involved in multiple research topics such as mortality study of impact from Covid-19 and climate change in Asian countries, impact of Covid-19 and climate change on the demand and design of life and health insurance and retirement products. The SRF is expected to carry out scientific research on these topics, present findings to GAIP sponsors and the academic community, and publish in academic journals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Modelling and forecasting mortality impact from pandemic/endemic in Asian countries
  • Analyzing the impact of COVID-19 on life and health insurance and retirement products
  • Develop impactful assessment as needed to support development of risk financing solution
  • Produce high quality research articles and industry reports
  • Present findings to GAIP sponsors and the academic community


Job Requirements:
  • Ph.D. in Actuarial Science, Risk Management, Insurance, Statistics, or related fields
  • While relevant insurance/actuarial industry experience is an asset, it is not a strict requirement
  • Proven research experience with a track record of publications in top-tier journals in the field
