A Research Associate/Engineer(Computer Engineer/Software Developer) position is offered to join the Microbiome Medicine Laboratory at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, a joint medical school between Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and Imperial College London.

Our mission is centered on exploring the role of microbiome in systemic diseases, and driving revolutionary discoveries that advance health and medicine. The candidate will join the team to develop machine learning-augmented mobile apps for microbiome clinical trial studies, in line with the overarching research strategy of the school.

We are seeking individuals with a passion for computational science and microbiology to join our team and contribute to our ongoing research initiatives focused on the human microbiome. Our research efforts primarily directed towards investigating the interactions between microorganisms, their hosts and the environment. Our ultimate goal is to develop a mobile application device that could be used for clinical trial studies, to further enhance the study of microbiome medicine.

Key responsibilities:
  • To design and develop a ML-augmented mobile apps for clinical trial studies
  • To integrate the mobile apps with mobile edges and data streaming across cloud computing platforms
  • To test, evaluate and refine the solution based on user experience and feedback
  • To explore new possibilities to enhance the integrated solution


Key competencies and requirements:
  • Master's degree or above in Computer Science/ Computer Engineering/ Data Science/ IT or equivalent
  • Possess a minimum of 3 years of experience on mobile application (Android/ iOS SDK) and AWS/Azure cloud service development
  • Experience with C#, Java, J2EE, Python, Objective C or any other programming languages
  • Hands-on experience on analog/digital signal processing and/or hardware programming, especially loT, mobile device
  • Knowledge of machine learning algorithms, data security and UI design would be an advantage
  • Able to work independently, and as a team player
  • Excellent project and time management skills
