The Singapore Centre for 3D Printing (SC3DP) offers a full range of additive manufacturing services, from design and infrastructure to production and validation. With advanced technologies such as topology optimization, generative design, and bioinspired design, SC3DP creates optimized products using a variety of novel materials and printing processes, including hybrid printing, post-processing, and emerging technologies. Sustainability is a top priority for SC3DP, which offers material development and control services that combine artificial intelligence, big data, and other digital tools for process optimization, as well as non-destructive testing for AM parts. Backed by a team of experts and a state-of-the-art facility equipped with the latest equipment and technologies, SC3DP is committed to leading the way in sustainable additive manufacturing research and development.

The centre is seeking to hire a staff to manage the laboratory operations and activities. The candidate would be responsible for providing efficient technical and administrative support for the labs. He/she will also need to oversee the safety standards in the lab in compliance to ISO 45001 standard. The candidate will provide essential technical, administrative support and engineering expertise to faculty, research staff, and students to ensure the smooth operation and safety of the laboratories in enabling the faculty, research staff and students to accomplish their academic and research activities effectively and efficiently.

Responsibilities:

Provide training, expertise, maintenance and support in equipment operations on additive manufacturing and related processes:
  • Operate all relevant equipment and accessories (within a team or individually depending on activity)
  • Understand and implement existing and emerging technologies in additive manufacturing
  • Perform regular maintenance, troubleshooting and calibration of equipment, and ensure equipment is in working condition at all times
  • Oversee lab activities to enforce proper and safe utilization
  • Provide technical advice and support on equipment including responding to technical questions, troubleshooting and correcting experimental errors
  • Coach researchers on the operation of equipment and in carrying out experiments in a safe and effective way
  • Liaise with all relevant internal and external stakeholders and manage vendors and contractors for the technical needs of the laboratory
  • Support all stakeholders in administrative procedures and logistics


Perform routine checks and inspection of assigned laboratories and researcher office to maintain good housekeeping, enforce safety regulations and create safety awareness among all stakeholders:
  • Conduct daily housekeeping and regular checking of all contents of the assigned laboratories and researcher office to ensure compliance to safety regulations
  • Follow up on all safety inspection findings and ensure the corrective actions are implemented on schedule
  • Perform in assigned safety role(s)
  • Regular updates of lab records and documentation


Support the daily operations of all safety, administrative, procurement and security matters in SC3DP:
  • Ensure that duties are carried out in compliance to safety, OHSAS 18001/SS 506/ISO 45001:2018 and relevant national regulations
  • Maintain security of laboratory's access and compliance of house rules by users of the laboratory
  • Enforce safety, security rules and regulation in the laboratory
  • Ensure all Risk Assessment and safety documents are up to date
  • Procures and manages the budget of equipment consumables to ensure that consumables are tracked and purchased in time to ensure that the laboratory is well-stocked.


Requirements:
  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience in handling various industrial / workshop machines and peripherals.
  • Prior experience in additive manufacturing and working in a laboratory environment will be an advantage.
  • Good social and communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Meticulous, organized and diligent
  • Highly adaptable, resourceful and self-motivated
  • Able to work independently as well as in teams
  • Able to multi-task and work in a dynamic environment
  • Hands-on and enjoys creating and building things
  • Sharp, innovative doer
  • Create solutions to problems that have yet to be solved
