The School of Materials Science & Engineering (MSE) invites applications for the position of Research Fellow. We look for applicants who show initiative, and are highly motivated and have relevant project management experience. The successful applicant will work in a research group comprising postdoctoral fellows, PhD/undergraduate students, internships, and collaborators who are actively engaged in novel polymer chemistry for biomedical applications

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the development of novel bioadhesives formulations and work with laboratory personnel towards the objectives listed within the relevant grant funding.
• Synthesis and characterization of functional polyacrylate composites using novel photoinitiator chemistry.
• Project management with ability to generate technical reports, journal papers, and liase with industrial collaborators.

Job Requirements:

• PhD in Materials-, Organic- or Polymer Chemistry from an internationally accredited institution.
• Minimum one year of industrial or academic research experience in polymer research, materials science, or adhesives.
• Strong materials chemistry or polymer chemistry science background, with experience in biomaterials, adhesives, formulation development, and/or rheology.
• Prior Laboratory experience in synthesis and characterization of macromolecules, polyesters, acrylates, and/or elastomeric materials.
• Skills relating to photochemistry, photoinitiators, free radical polymerization, vat polymerization.
• Familiar with polymer characterization techniques such as SEC, XPS, NMR, FTIR
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong initiatives.
• Evidence of project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong record of scientific publications in high impact academic journals.
