You are responsible for Overall Life cycle of R&D design and development for environmental instruments andneed to perform the conceptual study and realization of instrument requirements.These include engagement in electronics design, Software design, Mechanical design, conducting feasibility studies, project planning and maintaining detailed documentation through all phases of development and co-ordinate activities with cross functional team members.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical leadership and subject-matter expertise in the design, development, and validation of R&D projects within assigned product or technology domains.
  • Lead end-to-end R&D activities, including concept development, feasibility studies, detailed design, prototyping, testing, and design transfer to manufacturing.
  • Act as the technical authority for assigned systems or platforms, ensuring designs meet performance, quality, regulatory, and reliability requirements.
  • Drive technical problem-solving for complex or escalated issues, including root cause analysis and implementation of robust corrective actions.
  • Review and approve technical deliverables such as design specifications, drawings, calculations, test plans, and validation reports.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Regulatory, Service) to ensure smooth product realization and lifecycle support.
  • Mentor and guide engineers and junior team members through technical coaching, design reviews, and knowledge sharing.
  • Support technology roadmap planning, continuous improvement initiatives, and adoption of new tools, methods, or standards.
  • Ensure R&D activities comply with internal processes, industry standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to project planning by providing technical risk assessment, effort estimation, and feasibility input.
  • Represent R&D in technical discussions with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and external partners when required.
  • To achieve ISO 9001 for Singapore R&D division.
  • To establish the Production Engineering Department.


Requirements:

Education
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Software / Mechatronics or relevant discipline).

Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of R&D or engineering experience, with demonstrated depth in a relevant technical domain.
  • Proven experience leading complex technical projects or subsystems in a product development environment.
  • Experience in industries such as instrumentation, manufacturing, automation, medical devices, or regulated products is an advantage.

Technical Competencies
  • Strong hands-on expertise in design, analysis, testing, and validation.
  • Solid understanding of product development lifecycle, design controls, and design-for-manufacturing principles.
  • Familiarity with relevant standards, compliance requirements, and quality systems.
  • Ability to translate system-level requirements into detailed technical solutions.

Leadership & Soft Skills
  • Recognized technical leaders with the ability to influence without directauthority.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills, able to explain complex technical concepts to diverseaudiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and lead technical discussions and reviews.
  • Organized, proactive, and capable of managing multiple technical priorities.
