We are looking for a Research Fellow to lead a project on developing a high-average-power, high-peak-power mid-infrared light source. The successful candidate will work closely with the Reporting Officer and his team to design and build a compact system that generates femtosecond pulses in the mid-infrared region using gas-filled hollow-core fibers. The role includes designing the overall system-such as the hollow-core fiber and its interface with the pump laser, procuring components, assembling the setup, and performing characterization and optimization.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design and assemble a compact mid-infrared laser system capable of generating high-average-power and high-peak-power femtosecond pulses
- Design and fabricate antiresonant hollow-core fibers required for the system, in collaboration with fiber fabricators in the team
- Prepare progress reports for funding agency
- Maintain equipment and troubleshoot issues in the laser laboratory
- Manage procurement of equipment, components, and consumables
- Provide ad-hoc administrative support as needed
Job Requirements:
- PhD degree in Physics, Engineering or related field
- Technical hands-on experience in experimental ultrafast optics, mid-infrared optics, or related field
- Ability to lead a research project under strict timelines with minimal supervision
- Good written and oral communication skills
