Position: Preschool / Childcare Cooks cum Cleaners

Key Responsibilities (Basic Training/Guidance will be provided):

Food Preparation & Kitchen Operations

• Prepare mise en place for daily meals, including washing, cutting, peeling, slicing and measuring ingredients
• Cook and prepare food products according to planned menus and dietary requirements
• Clean and maintain kitchen utensils, equipment and work areas at the start and end of each shift
• Perform day-to-day kitchen operations in accordance with rostered duties
• Exercise portion control and minimise food wastage through proper handling of ingredients
• Assist in basic inventory tasks, including receiving, checking and storing supplies

Health, Hygiene, Safety & Compliance

• Attain and follow food safety and hygiene standards in accordance with Food Safety Level 1 requirements
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, food prep areas, equipment and storage spaces
• Comply with Workplace Safety & Health (WSH) procedures, including hazard identification and safe work practices
• Ensure safe storage of food, including temperature control, stock rotation and proper labelling
• Assist in Halal compliance procedures (where applicable), including handling and storing Halal-certified ingredients

Cleaning & Housekeeping Duties

• Clean horizontal and vertical surfaces, including tables, shelves, walls and fixtures
• Wash and sanitise used crockery, cutlery and kitchen tools
• Handle and dispose of waste safely, following centre guidelines
• Reinstate cleaning equipment and supplies after use
• Report equipment faults or operational issues promptly to supervisors

Support for Centre Programmes & Community Engagement

• Provide operational support during centre-wide initiatives and celebrations

Requirements

• Mandatory Food Safety Course (FSC) Level 1 certification (or willing to obtain upon employment)
• Physically able to perform kitchen and cleaning duties in a warm, fast-paced environment
• Basic understanding of food hygiene, safety and sanitation standards
• Able to follow instructions, work independently and collaborate with team members
• Positive attitude, reliability and strong time-management skills
• Experience in food preparation or cleaning roles is an advantage
