Key roles and responsibilities
  • Project planning and scheduling:Prepare project budgets and timetables, and develop work plans to ensure timely completion.
  • Budget and cost management:Monitor and manage project budgets, ensuring expenditures stay within the allocated budget and negotiating terms with vendors and subcontractors.
  • Team and subcontractor management:Hire and manage staff, including foremen and laborers, and coordinate the activities of subcontractors and other specialists.
  • Coordination and communication:Liaise with architects, engineers, and other professionals to review plans and technical information. Report progress and budget matters to clients and other stakeholders.
  • Quality assurance:Ensure that construction work meets quality standards and specifications through ongoing inspections and by monitoring materials and methods.
  • Safety and regulatory compliance:Enforce safety protocols, monitor job sites for hazards, and ensure all activities comply with building codes and relevant regulations.
  • Risk and problem management:Identify potential risks, and develop and implement strategies to mitigate them. Respond to and resolve any issues or delays that arise.
  • Contract administration:Interpret contracts, negotiate terms, handle change orders, and ensure all parties understand their agreements.
  • Resource allocation:Oversee the ordering and allocation of necessary materials, equipment, and personnel.
