BioCell Innovations Pte Ltd is a Singapore-based biotechnology company with the primary objective to bring cell and gene therapy to patients-in-need, offering them effective and personalized treatment options. We are seeking for driven team members with a passion for cell therapies; prior experience in cGMP manufacturing of cell and gene therapy products is preferred.
Position: Head of Research & Development
We are seeking an experienced and motivated scientific leader to oversee and advance the research and development (R&D) programs of the organization. The successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping our innovation pipeline, driving new product opportunities, and ensuring operational excellence within the R&D function.
Key Responsibilities:
• Strategic Leadership: Lead, manage, and direct R&D programs to meet organizational goals and identify opportunities for new technologies, products, and platform development.
• Project Oversight: Supervise and inspire a high-performing scientific team, troubleshoot, review and analyze data to translate findings into actionable scientific and business recommendations.
• Assay Development & Operational Excellence: Assist with the development of in-process controls to ensure product consistency, potency, and safety. Help to draft/update the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), batch manufacturing records, lead investigations to deviations, non-conformances, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) to drive continuous improvement.
• Collaboration & Partnerships: Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively present and engage with stakeholders, and to foster strong collaborative relationships with academic institutions and industry to expand scientific capability and co-development opportunities.
Qualifications
• PhD degree in Immunology, Biotechnology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience in cGMP-compliant manufacturing of cell and gene therapy products in industry setting, preferably CAR T-cell therapies. Industry experience is preferred.
• Strong track record of scientific innovation and project execution
• Good work ethics, an openness to ideas/feedback for continuous improvement and a collaborative mindset
• Familiarity with GMP, biosafety regulations, and translational research workflows
• Excellent communication, leadership, and team development skills
