1. Job Purpose

The Lawyer will handle a range of legal matters in Criminal, Civil, and Family law, providing sound legal advice, representation, and advocacy for clients. The role requires professionalism, strong analytical ability, and the capacity to manage cases independently from initial consultation to conclusion.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Criminal Law

  • Handle criminal defence matters including charges under the Penal Code, CDSA, Women's Charter, and other statutes.
  • Attend mentions, pre-trial conferences, mitigation pleas, and trials.
  • Prepare legal submissions, mitigation pleas, and witness statements.
  • Liaise with the Prosecution, Court Officers, and Investigating Officers when necessary.

B. Civil Litigation

  • Manage civil and commercial disputes including contractual claims, negligence, debt recovery, and enforcement proceedings.
  • Draft pleadings, affidavits, summonses, and other court documents.
  • Conduct legal research and advise clients on potential outcomes and strategies.
  • Represent clients at mediations, hearings, and trials.

C. Family Law

  • Handle divorce (contested and uncontested), maintenance, PPO, custody, and division of matrimonial assets.
  • Draft originating summonses, affidavits of evidence-in-chief, and other related family court documents.
  • Advise clients on family law procedures, options, and mediation opportunities.
  • Liaise with counsellors, family service centres, and other relevant agencies when necessary.

D. General Legal Practice

  • Provide accurate and timely legal advice across assigned practice areas.
  • Manage case files efficiently with proper documentation and compliance with PDPA.
  • Prepare and review agreements, client correspondences, and submissions.
  • Maintain professional conduct and uphold the firm's reputation and ethics.

3. Skills and Requirements

  • LL.B (Hons) from a recognised university and admitted to the Singapore Bar.
  • At least 1-3 years of PQE (Post-Qualification Experience) preferred; newly called lawyers may also apply.
  • Strong command of written and spoken English.
  • Excellent drafting, research, and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.

5. Working Hours

  • Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 6:00pm (subject to case requirements).
  • Court attendance and client meetings as scheduled.
