Job Description - Senior Staff Nurse

Since 1958, St John's Home for Elderly Persons has been a Sheltered Home for the elderly under the Ministry of Social and Family Affairs (MSF).

We are currently transitioning into a Nursing Home and will eventually come under the governance of the Ministry of Health (MOH), by 2026. We are looking for a highly driven individual to take on the role of Senior Staff Nurse, with the opportunity to co-create and define the future of Nursing in our new nursing home, and the potential to upgrade to a higher position of nursing leadership (if deemed suitable in future).

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Daily Operations

Assist the Director of Nursing (DON) in managing the provision of nursing care to the residents of the Home, its daily functions and escalate matters as necessary.

• Manage team of Nursing Aides, Therapy Assistants and Healthcare Assistants.
• Supervise resident care activities and ensure that team uphold professional standards and code of ethics.
• Ensure that nursing services are provided in line with recognised clinical standards and evidence-based practices.
• Develop training programmes and continuous learning courses to upgrade the team's knowledge and skills
• Monitor infection prevention practices and clinical emergencies.
• Any other duties assigned by DON/CEO.

Nursing Home Transition

• Assist the Director of Nursing in mapping out strategic plans and processes for the new nursing home.
• Formulation of Clinical Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to achieve required clinical standards for the new nursing home, in accordance with the Heathcare Services Act (HCSA).
• Participation in creating Nursing's identity (e.g. uniform design, specialisations etc).
• Evaluate and choose vendors' equipment, consumables and clinical products.
• Any other duties assigned by DON/CEO.

Requirement

• Registered Nurse with the Singapore Nursing Board.
• Possesses minimally a Nursing Diploma, and/or Advanced/Specialist Diploma/Bachelor's Degree.
• Valid BCLs Certification.
• Prior experience as a Clinical Instructor, Infection Control Lead and/or previous employment in the ILTC sector will be highly advantageous.
