The Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS) is a University Research Institute at Nanyang Technological University Singapore that conducts fundamental research on earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, and climate change in and around Southeast Asia, towards safer and more sustainable societies.
The Research Assistant will work with the PI of South East Asia SEA-level (SEA2). We are seeking a motivated Research Assistant to support projects on coastal geoscience and natural hazards. The role involves fieldwork, data analysis, and interpretation related to coastal processes, sediment dynamics, and hazard assessment. Applicants should hold a bachelor's degree in Geoscience, Geography, Environmental Science, or Environmental Engineering. Experience in geophysical techniques such as ground-penetrating radar, shallow seismic surveys, or sedimentology will be considered an advantage. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in both field and laboratory settings are essential.

Key Responsibilities:
- Literature searches and manuscript preparation
- Data collection using mixed methodology
- Geophysical analyses and evidence synthesis
- Drafting of progress report(s) and final research report
- Research publications and presentations, and dissemination of the results
- Administrative work associated with the program of research as necessary
Job Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in geoscience, coastal engineering, environmental science, or a related quantitative field.
- Strong understanding of coastal hazards and sedimentology, particularly sea level rise, storm surge, and tsunami processes.
- Proven experience in conducting literature reviews and meta-analyses, with excellent analytical and synthesis skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis and statistical tools (e.g., R, Python, MATLAB).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear reports and contribute to academic publications.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to work independently and meet research deadlines.
- Ability to work independently with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Evidence of being able to work both independently and collaboratively, with a strong sense of team spirit
