Roles & Responsibilities
We are looking for a candidate with a keen interest in legal and compliance work to support the work of the Law Society's Compliance department and other Secretariat's departments.
The successful candidate must be a qualified lawyer who has experience in working in a law practice environment.
The specific duties include providing legal support for and legal review of the Compliance department's work, including but not limited to the following:

The successful candidate must be a qualified lawyer who has experience in working in a law practice environment.
The specific duties include providing legal support for and legal review of the Compliance department's work, including but not limited to the following:
- To assist in the processing of applications for /renewals of Practising Certificates, as well as other applications handled by the department
- To assist in the work of the Anti-Money Laundering Secretariat
- To attend to legal and compliance enquiries from solicitors and law practices
- To support the work of various practice committees
- To assist in the development, management and streamlining of standard operating procedures, systems and processes of the department
- To handle court applications under the Legal Profession Act 1966
- To compile and analyse statistics relating to the legal profession
- To conduct legal research into legal compliance matters
- To assist in risk assessment to identify potential compliance issues and address them proactively
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Law from a recognized university
- Experience in working in a law practice environment of at least 5 years
- Prior experience working in a Singapore law practice preferred
- Able to conduct legal research
- Experience with e-litigation preferred
- Strong command of English and writing and communication skills
- Able to multi-task and work independently within tight deadlines
- Self-motivated and resourceful
- A team player who demonstrates team spirit and collaboration with others
- Strong administrative and organizational skills and able to manage competing priorities effectively
- A positive attitude, adaptable to changes and open and wiling to learn
- A proactive attitude to take initiative on matters and has a sense of responsibility for the work given
- Attentive to details
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
