Job Description

The successful candidate will work with Associate Professor Lau On Sun on studying the development of stomata in plants under a project on unraveling the transcriptional cascade of the stomatal self-renewing cells.

The main responsibilities of the position include:
  • running a project in the lab where we aim to study how stomatal stem cells initiate and sustain a transcriptional cascade for their specification and proliferation. The work will involve analyses of Arabidopsis mutants, generation of transgenic plants, performing light and confocal microscopy, image analyses, and various in vitro and in vivo biochemical, molecular, and genomic analyses.
  • the Research Fellow is also expected to mentor and train junior members in the lab.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in Plant Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Developmental Biology or related field.

Skills:

Expertise in basic and advanced molecular biology, biochemical, and genetic techniques in Arabidopsis (e.g. gene cloning, in vitro protein assays, protein-protein interaction, crossing and phenotyping plants, etc.) and microscopic analyses (e.g. light and fluorescent microscopy and imaging analyses).

Experience:
  • At least 4 or more years of related laboratory experience in molecular genetics in plants.
  • Experience working with Arabidopsis and have at least one submitted/accepted manuscript in reputable journals in relevant fields.
