Commodities Data Analyst

THIS IS NOT an IT role, it is a U.S. Natural Gas Trading Analytics and Data Science support role:
The Commodities Data Analyst role sits within our Research and Analytics team; it is responsible for developing and maintaining a fundamental outlook for global natural gas, power and LNG markets, communicated to key stakeholders across the company. The Commodities Data Analyst will be responsible for analyzing market fundamentals for U.S. gas markets, European gas and LNG markets, and U.S. power markets, to help inform short-term views to support the Trading desk, as well as mid- to long-term outlooks to support Business Development activity. The ideal candidate MUST HAVE solid quantitative analytical skills and a STRONG understanding of US Natural Gas market. They must also be a capable communicator, able to clearly convey market views and show appreciation for the bias of risk and analytical approach. The position sits within our Singapore office, but is global in terms of remit. This role requires frequent late nights/early mornings to interact with U.S. business hours.
Responsibilities:
1) Provide market outlook commentary for U.S. gas markets as well as global LNG markets
2) Automate data collection processes and be able to write queries for databases.
3) Utilize statistical techniques, advanced programming and machine learning to analyze trends and insights within the data.
4) Build data visualization tools, and predictive models based on the relationship derived, including measures to enhance forecasting accuracy. Use AI techniques to inform medelling where relevant.
5) Stay abreast of market developments across global gas markets
6) Work closely with traders on North American and LNG trading desks, and fundamental analysts, to support meeting front office objectives and be able to communicate findings effectively to internal stakeholders.
Requirements & Skills:
1) Master's degree in Data Science, Finance, Economics or other quantitative field
2) Proficiency in SQL, Python and VBA
3) Strong analytical skills and experience with statistical analysis, machine learning and data visualization techniques
4) Experience with time-series analysis and forecasting
5) Solid understanding of energy commodity markets, trading dynamics, and Natural Gas fundamentals
6) Excellent communication (written and verbal English) and presentation skills
7) Flexiblity to work early mornings/late evenings to overlap with U.S. Eastern time zone to coordinate with stakeholders and traders
