Job Description
  • Able to support senior counsels in providing legal advice on a diverse range of matters in particular relating to commercial and contractual, employment, privacy, intellectual property, real estate issues across the business and operations for 12 APAC countries (including China);
  • Able to support senior counsel in working autonomously and independently with key business stakeholder relationships across APAC (including China);
  • Able to support senior counsel and assisting in the development of the business and collaborating with other members of the legal & compliance team and regional management team to develop and deliver key legal & compliance functions and outcomes;
  • Able to assist in developing relationships, processes and procedures across 12 APAC countries (including China) to provide efficient and effective legal services to the respective business teams through the identification and management of risk;
  • Drafting, reviewing, negotiating and advising of a range of commercial agreements with our customers, vendors and suppliers;
  • Able to support and assist the business to resolving any contractual dispute, administrative actions, with our customers and suppliers and any non-compliance with relevant government authorities and provide support in disputes, regulatory actions, legal notices across 12 APAC countries (including China);
  • Able to assist in corporate secretarial service support with the assistance of external legal and corporate secretarial service provider;
  • Providing support and assisting in any legal & compliance project either regionally or globally;
  • Able to support in providing legal & compliance trainings to the business and operations across 12 APAC countries;
  • Regularly monitor legal updates (cases, legislation, regulations, media releases from relevant authorities and regulators) and ensure stakeholders and regularly updated on all relevant matters;
  • Providing support to Corporate Counsel & Head of Legal & Compliance, APAC on any matter as may be instructed by him;
  • Establish good working relations with external law firms supporting the PSA BDP Group in APAC;
  • Extending support in managing compliance issues where necessary across 12 APAC countries.

Qualifications
  • Minimum LLB or JD or its equivalent from a top law schools/universities in Singapore, Malaysia, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand universities, JD from universities in America; admitted as an advocate and solicitor in Singapore or any other jurisdiction is preferred;
  • 2 years or less PQE or had undergone necessary training from either international law firm or a top tier or mid-tier law firm in Singapore or in-house role in Singapore with legal experience in a multi-national company or public listed company or large Singapore companies with exposure to and experience in a range of corporate/commercial matters, preferred;
  • Able to speak, read, write and draft in Chinese language as well as ability to speak or write in another Asian language is necessary,
  • Demonstrate ability to manage multiple and varied tasks, including organizational and time management skills, and the ability to work autonomously as well part of a broader team;
  • A "common sense" approach when handling legal matters that balances legal requirements with commercial considerations;
  • Passion for accuracy and excellent attention to detail;
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills and the ability to manage a variety of stakeholders;
  • Able to support in building a collaborative and productive working relations with key stakeholders across 12 APAC countries (including China);
  • Should be dynamic and open to adapting and embracing new challenges;
  • Very High level of integrity and responsibility;
  • Has the confidence to speak up and challenge decisions when required;
  • Resilient - able to bounce back and pivot quickly with a positive attitude;
  • Able to stand firm with the business when enforcing or implementing new ways of working or compliance requirements; and
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and able to deliver high quality outcomes.

This role reports to the Corporate Counsel & Head of Legal & Compliance, APAC, based in Singapore.
