Our Client

My client within the Construction space is looking to hire a Legal Counsel to be based in Singapore.

The Role
  • Deliver legal analysis and strategic advice to senior management and cross-functional teams on potential legal risks, compliance requirements, and emerging opportunities under applicable laws and regulations.
  • Advise on commercial and employment law matters, including entity formation, corporate governance, policy adherence, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure all business transactions and operations align with internal policies and standards, as well as relevant local laws, regulations, and compliance frameworks.
  • Provide case management and legal support for disputes, including arbitration, litigation, and adjudication processes.
  • Coordinate with the global head office to effectively execute legal functions and align local practices with global legal strategies.
  • Engage and oversee external legal counsel and advisors, including performance evaluation and cost management.
  • Monitor and report on regional legal and regulatory developments, identifying potential impacts to the business.
  • Conduct legal training sessions for employees and project teams, including updates on relevant case law and compliance issues.
  • Represent the company before administrative bodies and quasi-judicial agencies as required.

Requirements

To Qualify
  • Possess a Degree in Law. Qualified to practice law in an Asia Pacific jurisdiction
  • Minimum 4 - 6 years post-qualification experience in an EPC environment
  • Familiarity with standard contracts such as FIDIC, PSSCO, REDAS, SIA or PAM
  • Broad-based knowledge in policies and regulations in the Southeast Asia region.
  • Familiarity with Malaysia, Vietnam, Philippines and/or Indonesia legal framework will be advantageous
  • Has handled large-scale infrastructure, Building and Plant projects
  • Experience in Public Private Partnership framework for projects
  • Well organized, timely in delivery of work and able to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision
  • A strong team player with good interpersonal, communication and analytical skills
