The Opportunity

Our client is a premier global agri-commodity merchant with an annual turnover exceeding US$3 billion. They specialize in trading and processing more than 30 commodities, including pulses, grains, oilseeds, animal feed, edible nuts, and sugar, across a network of 50 countries. In recent years, the company has expanded its focus to include the development of innovative plant-based ingredients and products. They are currently seeking a Contracts Manager (GATFA) in Singapore.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and develop a team responsible for end-to-end execution of agricultural commodity shipments, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the accurate and timely execution of physical contracts, including documentation, letters of credit, and post-fixture operations, while coordinating closely with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure all execution activities adhere to internal policies, international trade laws, and regulatory requirements to minimize operational and financial risk.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the execution team and senior management, providing updates on performance, risks, and strategic alignment across departments.
  • Monitor key performance indicators, analyze execution trends such as demurrage and claims, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and cost control.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Business, Supply Chain, Maritime Studies or related disciplines.
  • 8 - 10 years of relevant experience in commodity operations, particularly in agriculture commodities.
  • Min 4 years experience in managing an execution team in a fast-paced environment
  • Extensive experience in GAFTA contract management is required
  • Robust knowledge of international trade frameworks, including Incoterms, shipping documentation, and LC execution
  • Strong organizational, communication and leadership skills
  • Proficient in MS Office. Commodity trading systems working experience is desirable
