The A*STAR Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IMCB)is inviting applications for a Senior Principal Investigator to lead a research programme in neuroscience, with a focus on neurodegeneration or major depressive disorder. We are looking for a creative and driven scientist to develop new molecular strategies for treating disease and contribute to IMCB's mission of advancing scientific discovery, enabling technology innovation, and supporting Singapore's growing biotech ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and lead an independent research programme to develop drugs and/or therapies against neurodegenerative disease or major depressive disorders
• Drive the development of hit/lead molecules against validated targets in neurodegeneration/major depressive disorders
• To initiate and execute novel research projects, to translate research outputs into clinical or industrial collaborations
• Compete for external research funding, both local and international
• Supervise and mentor a research team, including students and postdoctoral fellows
• Build collaborations across A*STAR, and the broader Singapore ecosystem

Qualifications and Requirements

• PhD in Neuroscience, Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of leading a lab in the research area of molecular neuroscience or related fields and track record of securing competitive funding
• Preferably experience as co-founder of biotech startup or have made significant contributions to therapeutic development
• A track record of publications in leading scientific journals
• Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and managing research projects
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
