Position Summary

Leading the APAC region's technical department including advising customers and sales on packaging solutions; managing the Singapore experience lab, sourcing and validating new materials. Coaching and training of the Technical FTEs as well as putting together comprehensive training programs for APAC colleagues to maintain and enhance technical expertise.

Responsibilities

Technical and operational efficiency
  • Managing validation projects to ensure the smooth ramp-up of new business opportunities.
  • Ensuring new products meets customer manufacturing and quality needs while aligning with process capabilities.
  • Supporting CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions) resolution for customer, supplier, and internal issues.
  • Administering the product specification system, working closely with Sales and Engineering department to create new specs or request revisions/ deviations to optimize performance.
  • Supervising internal validations and Design of Experiments to identify key process variables for manufacturing.
  • Maintaining the overall Quality Management System to ensure compliance with customer requirements and specifications.
  • Implementing systems to ensure consistent, reliable product manufacturing.
  • Maintaining a database or intranetthat provides decision-makers with access to knowledge, information, and data.

Innovation and product development
  • Developing and overseeing activities impacting product development, customer expectations, and technical documentation.
  • Collaborates with sales, marketing, and manufacturing to develop new materials, products, and processes for the Medical Packaging Market.
  • Implementing cost reduction, waste reduction, increased throughput, and general process improvements.
  • Directing engineers and technicians in developing and modifying adhesive formulations, product and process validations, and material selections.

Team leadership and development
  • Recruiting, training, mentors, and evaluating the performance of team members to foster a high-performing team.
  • Encouraging job performance improvement by assigning challenging projects and supporting diverse experiences.
  • Developing and implementing a departmental succession plan to support career growth and promote internal talent.
  • Cultivates a culture of creative technical innovation by fostering new ideas and initiatives.
  • Directs day-to-day activities of the team and ensures alignment with organizational goals.

Collaboration & communication
  • Driving standardization efforts and sharing knowledge across departments, particularly in pouching, lidding, printing, and other manufacturing processes.
  • Acting as a liaison between Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality department and customers to manage quality expectations and performance at customer facilities.
  • Communicating new formulations effectively and ensures validation processes are fully implemented.

Quallifications

Education and Experience:
  • A bachelor's degree, with an advanced degree preferred.
  • At least 7 years of experience in a technical role within a related industry, along with in-depth knowledge of adhesives.
  • A minimum of 5 years in a leadership position, managing personnel, is required.
  • Preferred qualifications include prior experience with coating equipment and processes, as well as materials research.
  • Experience in the medical packaging market and understanding of printing and converting applications.

Other Requirements:
  • Possessing strong interpersonal skills, comfortable presenting to groups of 2-50 people in both live and virtual settings, and effectively communicating through face-to-face, phone, and virtual meetings.
  • Able to analyze and interpret various documents, such as data, safety manuals, operating instructions, and procedures.
  • Additionally, skilled in managing teams, resolving conflicts, and fostering collaboration.
  • Capable of traveling internationally and working outside of office hours when needed.
  • Fluent in English and (optionally) one other language used in the APAC region, both orally and in writing.
