Bloomberg News is looking for a journalist who is excited by breaking news and what makes companies tick. Someone who has excellent news judgment, the ability to think big picture, and an interest in shaping our leading coverage of the auto and aviation sectors in Asia.

These are compelling times for the transport industry, with carmakers upended by the rise of EV technology and the global supply chain in disarray. Cyberattacks and ground conflicts are making air travel more complicated, while robo-taxis are set to become reality in this region first.

We're looking for a dynamic individual to spearhead our coverage of this fascinating space, leading our team of reporters from Shanghai to Tokyo, Singapore to Sydney to break news and write impactful stories.

You'll be responsible for driving our coverage, from scoops to long-form magazine enterprise, around some of the most exciting Asian companies operating today, whether they're on the rise, like BYD, or struggling to stay relevant, like Nissan. The successful candidate will also help shape our editorial agenda in aerospace and defense, where the opportunities -- and risks --- for big businesses are growing as superpower rivalries take center stage.

We'll trust you to:

• Lead and motivate a talented reporting team that's spread out geographically, some of whom are largely operating in local languages
• Be a high-level multi-tasker who stays calm under intense pressure
• Have an intuitive and creative approach to covering the news that prioritizes scoops of information or insight
• Collaborate and communicate effectively across a large newsroom that includes media platforms like TV, video and podcasts.
• Possess a love of news, and a keen competitive drive

You'll need to have:

• At least 5 years of recent experience in financial journalism
• At least 3 years of recent experience working in a real-time news environment
• Experience leading, mentoring, or developing teams in a newsroom
• Excellent writing and editing abilities, with an intuitive sense of what makes readers click on a story
• Demonstrable attention to detail and organizational skills
• Energy, drive and an open mind when it comes to storytelling and formats
• An understanding of the technicalities of business coverage, from financial statements to stock holdings
• Bachelor's degree or degree-equivalent qualifications
• Fluency in both spoken and written English
• Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organization
