Introduction

We are seeking an experienced and independent Senior Legal Counsel with a robust background in the online travel agency sector. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills in English and Chinese, enabling effective collaboration with business partners in both China, Singapore and other countries in Southeast Asia. Familiarity with Chinese suppliers and the ability to guide local business teams on key legal considerations in China are essential.

In this Role, you'll get to

• Review and negotiate contracts in English and Chinese with counterparts from Southeast Asia (SEA) and/or China.
• Provide legal support for corporate governance, business operations, and personnel management of subsidiaries in Singapore and SEA. This includes assisting with company registration changes, qualification applications, licensing applications, daily operational contract reviews, and /or labor compliance consultations.
• Conduct compliance assessments, draft, negotiate, and finalize terms and conditions, as well as commercial contracts for various products targeting the Singapore and SEA market.
• Assist in handling consumer disputes, litigation, and crisis such as responding to regulatory investigations, inspections by authorities and assisting in PR incident responses) in Singapore and SEA.
• Establish and optimize legal systems and processes, while providing internal compliance training.
• Drive the localization of global compliance projects and undertake other tasks assigned by the team.
• Protect, defend and represent the company in external engagements with government authorities, regulators, and other external parties
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify, develop and execute strategies to accomplish company's business objectives while maintaining legal compliance.
• Monitor, analyse and advise on applicable local laws and regulations and their impact on local operations

What you'll Need to Succeed

• Hold a bachelor's degree or above and admission to the bar in China.
• At least 6 - 10 years of experience in a law firm and in house corporate environment within a fast paced environment, with minimum 3 years' work experience in the online travel industry.
• Prior exposure to international assignments in APAC and possess strong understanding of the region.
• Familiarity with the travel agency and events industry.
• Exhibit strong cross-team, cross-department communication, and organizational collaboration skills.
• Self-starter , able and willing to independently conduct research on a wide range of legal and regulatory developments.
• Possess proficiency in spoken and written English and Chinese in order to participate in business meetings and negotiations with Chinese and APAC counterparts
