About the Role

This role leads and delivers programmes through a trauma-informed and culturally responsive approach, recognising the lasting impact of trauma while promoting hope, recovery, and positive youth development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. PROGRAMME DEVELOPMENT & DELIVERY

  • Lead the end-to-end development, execution, and review of divisional programmes, integrating trauma-informed principles such as safety, trust, empowerment, collaboration, and peer support.
  • Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure alignment with best practices.
  • Establish systematic monitoring and evaluation frameworks to measure both therapeutic outcomes and programme effectiveness.
  • Foster a strengths-based approach that builds on youth and community assets.
  • Ensure all documentation is accurate, confidential, and transparent.

2. STRATEGIC OUTREACH & PARTNERSHIPS

  • Design and implement trauma-informed outreach strategies to reduce access barriers for youth.
  • Build strategic partnerships with government agencies, community organisations, and other stakeholders based on shared power and trust.
  • Conduct community needs assessments that prioritise youth voices and lived experiences.
  • Develop and maintain culturally responsive and accessible resource networks.
  • Stay abreast of current research, trends, and evidence-based practices in trauma-informed care and youth development.

3. STAFF DEVELOPMENT & SUPERVISION

  • Provide trauma-informed leadership that fosters emotional safety, resilience, and professional growth.
  • Supervise and deploy Social Service Professionals (SSPs) with attention to staff wellbeing and prevention of secondary trauma.
  • Facilitate regular clinical supervision and skill-building sessions in trauma-informed practices.
  • Promote a learning culture that values peer support, continuous improvement, and shared decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with organisational policies while maintaining flexibility for staff needs.

4. RESEARCH & EVALUATION

  • Lead research initiatives that use participatory and youth-centred evaluation methods.
  • Identify service and research gaps through an equity-focused lens.
  • Implement outcome evaluations to assess healing, resilience, and functional improvements.
  • Apply findings to refine and enhance trauma-informed services.

5. FINANCIAL STEWARDSHIP

  • Manage the divisional budget with transparency and accountability.
  • Allocate resources to prioritise service quality and staff support.

6. OTHER DUTIES

  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the division's objectives.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

  • Trauma-Informed Practice - Applied knowledge of trauma-informed principles in youth services.
  • Case Management - Strong track record in strengths-based, complex case management.
  • Policy & Systems Navigation - Familiarity with social policies, government systems (e.g., MSF, MOE), and community networks.
  • Cultural Responsiveness - Skilled in working with diverse populations and contexts.

PREFERRED PROFILE

  • Education & Experience - Degree in Social Sciences with at least 5 years of managerial/leadership experience, ideally in trauma-informed settings.
  • Youth Development Focus - Deep commitment to adolescent development and wellbeing.
  • Communication Excellence - Skilled in de-escalation, motivational interviewing, and clear written/verbal communication.
  • Cultural Competence - Experience with diverse communities and understanding cultural influences on youth.
  • Innovative Mindset - Openness to creative, evidence-based strategies for engagement and healing.
