Safety Management and Compliance
Requirements
• A Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) or Degree in Safety Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Additional safety-related certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, ISO 45001, OHSAS 18001 certification) will be an advantage.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Safety Officer or in a similar safety role within civil construction projects.
• Proven experience in managing safety programs on large-scale civil works, including but not limited to roadworks, structural works, earthworks, or infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with handling subcontractor safety and ensuring compliance with safety regulations across various project phases.
• NEA Certified as a ECO
- Implement, maintain, and review the organization's Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Conduct incident investigations, identifying causes of accidents, and non-compliance with organizational and legal WSH standards.
- Perform risk assessments on identified workplace hazards and track the progress of corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards through regular audits and site inspections.
- Advise the project management team on risk assessments, safety controls, and updates to relevant safety, health, and environmental legislation.
- Ensure the permit-to-work system is implemented effectively and monitored.
- Address safety-related complaints from residents or neighbouring estates and collaborate with the project team for timely resolutions.
- Take immediate action to remedy any non-compliance discovered during inspections and checks, documenting corrective actions.
- Ensure that all deficiencies observed during inspections or audits are rectified promptly.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date WSHE (Workplace Safety, Health, and Environment) records and liaise with relevant authorities when required.
- Compile and submit weekly and monthly WSHE reports to the corporate WSHE department, developers, and consultants.
- Issue WSHE instructions and safety correspondences internally and to subcontractors as necessary.
- Prepare and assist in applying for local and international WSHE safety awards.
- Monitor and track the effectiveness of corrective actions and improvements to ensure they are completed in a timely and effective manner.
- Review and update SMMs (Safe Management Measures) if recurring non-compliance is detected.
- Lead safety audits, inspections, and corrective actions to improve site safety and performance.
