Job Description

Team 1 Underwriter A will be given a panel of intermediaries, including Financial Advisors, and will assist the Team 2 Lead Underwriter. The principal accountabilities are as below:

• Underwrite new Motor business in accordance with the underwriting guidelines and objectives;
• Liaising, advising and servicing (Including rapport building) intermediaries/insureds on motor insurance matters;
• Reviewing renewal policies with claims record;
• Monitor and review own portfolio including the Financial Advisors portfolio to ensure profitable growth in line with company targets;
• Assist Team 2 Lead Underwriter for Team 2 matters;
• Provide support to other Team Underwriters as required;
• To attend to direct queries
• Any other responsibilities as assigned by Team Lead 2 Underwriter and/or Head Motor Underwriter.

Job Specific Competencies

1. At least 2 years of underwriting experience in motor insurance;
2. Complete MAS-required qualifications to provide advice on insurance matters;
3. Possess the necessary people skills for managing their team;
4. Good communication skill, tact and patience needed in handling clients for this very competitive class of business;
5. Able to multi-task, and is a team player, conscientious, tactful and willing to learn new skills;
6. Able to work independently and interact with different levels of customers.
