An exciting new opportunity is available for an energetic, enthusiastic and skilled microbiologist to support the work of the Asian Skin Microbiome Programme 2.0 (ASMP 2.0) based at A*STAR Skin Research Labs. The ASMP 2.0 is acollaborative Singapore-based initiative which connects a number of academic organizations with the aim to develop fundamental knowledge on skin microbes in order to identify and develop better strategies to improve skin health. The role will be based at A*STAR Skin Research Labs on the Biopolis campus.

About the role
- Conduct research on various skin specific microbes on a regular basis.
- Work with single and multi-species community of microbes.
- Perform experiments to understand microbe-microbe interactions and host-microbe interactions.
- Develop and prepare research papers for any novel work undertaken.
- Working with multiple project teams to support needs relating to microbiology.
Requirements
About the candidate
- PhD in microbiology or biochemistry or related (essential).
- Ability to plan and execute experimental protocols.
- Highly skilled in microbiology techniques, methodology, equipment and supplies.
- Highly skilled in genetic manipulation of microorganisms.
- Ability to prepare research papers and technical reports.
- Willingness to keep up-to-date with current information and research.
- The candidate needs to be energetic and enthusiastic with a willingness to learn new skills and be adaptable to multiple tasks.
Skills and abilities
- High level of organisational skills with the ability to plan and schedule multiple projects effectively.
- Ability to effectively handle both internal and external partners, some with competing agendas.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
