Key Responsibilities

  • Fleet Management
    Monitor and manage day-to-day technical operations of assigned vessels.
    Coordinate planned maintenance, defect rectification, and ensure optimal vessel performance.
    Conduct regular inspections and audits onboard vessels to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Compliance & Safety
    Ensure that all vessels meet statutory requirements, classification society regulations, flag state and port state control inspections.
    Maintain updated knowledge on IMO regulations and ensure vessels adhere to MARPOL, SOLAS, ISM Code, ISPS, and other maritime legislation.
  • Dry Docking & Repair
    Plan, budget, and execute dry-docking and major repairs.
    Liaise with shipyards, vendors, and contractors to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of work.
    Prepare detailed dry-dock specifications and follow through with reports and cost control.
  • Budgeting & Cost Control
    Prepare and manage vessel budgets, monitor OPEX, and identify cost-saving measures.
    Evaluate quotations and technical proposals from suppliers and service providers.
  • Crew & Technical Support
    Provide technical support and guidance to shipboard engineers and crew.
    Assist with training, technical procedures, and promote safety culture onboard.
    Work closely with crewing and operations departments to ensure effective vessel performance.
  • Reporting
    Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, maintenance logs, and budgets.
    Submit regular reports to management on vessel condition, incidents, and operational status.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Marine Engineering or equivalent.
  • Class 1 COC (Chief Engineer) preferred; sailing experience as Chief Engineer is an advantage.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of shore-based experience as a Technical Superintendent or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of ship systems, machinery, and international maritime regulations.
  • Experience with dry docking and ship repair supervision.
  • Proficient in MS Office and technical management software (e.g., AMOS, TM Master).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel for inspections or emergency attendance onboard vessels.
