Dr Sarah Luo's lab is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Scientist to join her team in the field of metabolic regulation in organ-brain circuits within the Neurometabolism division at the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IMCB). The successful candidate will contribute to understanding the role of metabolic environment in peripheral neural circuit plasticity.

Key Responsibilities
- Rodent Handling & Tissue Work: Maintain colony, perform behavioural tests, euthanasia, perfusion, organ dissection, and tissue clearing for downstream assays.
- Immunohistochemistry & Microscopy: Perform IHC on sectioned brain/organ tissue, confocal and fluorescence microscopy and analyse images.
- Functional MRI (fMRI): Plan and conduct rodent fMRI scans, preprocess and analyse BOLD data (task- or resting-state), and integrate findings into broader research aims.
- Flow Cytometry: Prepare single-cell suspensions from brain and peripheral organs; design and optimize multi-colour panels for immunophenotyping; acquire and analyse using FlowJo.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyse imaging and cytometry results using statistical/visualization tools; prepare reports, SOPs, manuscripts, and conference presentations.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the team and collaborators to ensure cohesive project delivery.
Job Requirements
Education:
- PhD in Biomedical Sciences, Neuroscience or a closely related field.
Technical Experience:
- Proficiency in animal handling, behavioural assays, perfusion, dissection, and tissue clearing.
- Practical immunohistochemistry, FISH, microscopy experience and image interpretation.
- Hands-on experience in functional MRI imaging/data analysis.
- Expertise in flow cytometry, including panel design, acquisition, and analysis tools.
- Experience in viral tracing injections and survival surgeries
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and independent research capabilities.
- Clear and compelling written/verbal communication.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively in teams.
- Highly motivated, aim-oriented, and passionate about scientific breakthroughs.
