Role Purpose

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Tonnage Procurement Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with period tonnage shipowners worldwide. This role requires a deep understanding of the shipping industry, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Role Accountabilities

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with period tonnage shipowners worldwide to secure the best possible terms and conditions for our shipping needs.
• Charter handysize to ultramax tonange for short period up to 18 months to service Swire Bulk's global cargo trading book.
• Monitor market trends and analyze data to identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
• Negotiate contracts and agreements with shipowners, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
• Collaborate with internal teams to understand their shipping requirements and provide solutions that meet their needs.
• Manage the procurement process from start to finish, including sourcing, negotiating, and finalizing contracts.
• Ensure timely and accurate delivery of tonnage to meet operational requirements.
• Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices to continuously improve the procurement process.

Crisis Management

• Make every effort to be aware of and understand your role in the event of a crisis.
• Make every effort to attend any relevant training, simulations and or meetings relating to Crisis Management.
• Perform your role as best as possible in a calm and collaborative manner in line with the relevant policy and procedures in the event of a Crisis.
• Provide input and feedback towards the ongoing improvement of the Crisis Management framework and procedure.

• Take responsibility for the safety of myself and those around me by displaying safety leadership principles (i.e. Safety I's & Accountability ladder).
• Challenging and stopping unsafe acts and behaviours or unsafe conditions.
• Comply with the Global Safety Standards, Polices and Operating Procedures.

Key Qualifications & Skills

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree holder

Technical Skills

• 3-7 years of chartering experience preferably from a tonnage/period background
• Minimum 2 years' experience as a period shipbroker is strongly preferred

Professional Skills

• Excellent communication and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
