The Quality Lab Technician is responsible for analytical testing and data recording activities for both finished goods and raw materials to ensure compliance with specifications and standards. The incumbent is also responsible for the execution of plant environmental monitoring program as well as calibration and maintenance of laboratory instruments. The role requires close communication with stakeholders such as Operations and Supply Chain, and is expected to render support in resolving deviations.
Functional Responsibilities:
Perform analytical tests/checks to ensure that incoming raw materials and outgoing finished goods meet the agreed quality specifications.
Perform routine quality control related testing (e.g Physical/Chemical/Instrumental Tests) and other analyses as required.
Operate, maintain, verify/calibrate lab equipment.
Raise non-conformance and support quality investigations to ensure proper closure of corrective and preventive action.
Liaise with relevant stakeholders to conduct investigations for customer complaint.
Perform risk assessment and decision making for raw materials and finished goods based on test result vs specification within lead time.
Perform data entry and maintain document traceability.
Review and maintain test methods, work procedures/instructions.
Execute environmental monitoring program.
Perform overtime/shift to cover vacancies/vacations, including weekends where required
Make timely communication to relevant stakeholders to avoid delays
Provide quality audit support.
Implement cGMP in daily work activities.
Safe handling of equipment, instrument, tools and materials. Understand the hazards, adhere strictly to risk control measures and utilization of PPE.
Perform basic care and housekeeping of work area. Maintain 5S standards.
Based on seniority/job level, and as assigned by site management, the associate may be tasked with supervisory, coaching and other career-development responsibilities. This may involve training new or less experienced team members, shift supervision, MPS implementation, small capital projects, site optimization and CI projects.
Be cross-trained in other areas for business continuity and flexibility as required by site management.
Complete all training as assigned by site management and Milliken.
Be part of the Company Emergency Response Team (CERT) if required.
Participate in continuous improvement efforts.
Execute HSE operational assignments as set by site management. Be involved, in a participative or leading role, in site HSE efforts, as designated by site management. This may include (not limited to) involvement in BBS, Permit to Work (PTW), LOTOTO, safety committee, incident investigations, emergency responses, safety inspections, internal/local audits, risk assessments, hazard studies and others as deemed necessary by site management for continual improvement of site HSE performance.
Accountabilities:
Follow work procedures and instructions to ensure safe and efficient execution of all tasks assigned.
Timely test result possessing unquestioned accuracy and precision generated in compliance with cGMP.
Work safely and appropriately handle hazardous chemicals and other hazards around plant.
Strict compliance to site HSE rules and regulations, and all other requirements of HSE management system, including the Safety Absolutes. Understood implications of non-compliances which may include HR disciplinary actions.
Technical Skills/Experience/Background/Traits:
Prefer minimum 1-2 years for Diploma, NITEC, Higher NITEC Holders. Fresh Diploma / NITEC graduates are also welcome to apply.
Hands-on experience in a laboratory setting is strongly preferred.
Prior knowledge in Gas Chromatography is a plus.
Experience with Microsoft software applications (Words, Excel, Powerpoint, etc).
Experience in data system such as SAP is a plus.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision
Able to speak, read and write in English. Good communication skills and having the ability to interact with all levels on site, including with team members, site management and between functions/shifts.
Promote teamwork by assisting others where and when needed.
Capable of working in a flexible, often shifting, environment.
Awareness of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, SS651, cGMP, and microbial control practices in manufacturing is an advantage.
