Brief Description:
The Laboratory Manager has overall responsibility for everyday operations of the laboratory. He/she will be responsible for the laboratory needs and report any operational lapses to the Country Managing Director. The Lab Manager is responsible for arranging the outside support services and record keeping as well. This includes instrument service contracts, if any, subcontracting sample analysis, etc. Additionally, the Laboratory Manager is expected to identify expansion strategies to achieve long-term goals of sustainable business growth of the laboratory. He/she is responsible for the marketing and sales of the laboratory in the region under his management and assists the operation in supporting local and international markets.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as focal point for QA/QC and be responsible for the oversight and review of quality control data on a routine basis.
  • Ensure day-to-day operations and that KPIs in the laboratory are maintained.
  • Review final reports, record keeping, and physical maintenance of the laboratory.
  • Manage laboratory activities and employees, determine future needs, and develop strategy for long-term customer relationships.
  • Identify and acquire new customers while promoting awareness of AmSpec's analytical testing services in the industry.
  • Follow up on non-conformances, investigate preventive actions, and implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • Ensure technically correct analysis on a daily basis. Address technical issues arising from routine analysis and escalate more complex issues to the Technical Manager.
  • Coordinate and schedule lab assignments to lab coordinators.
  • Liaise with coordinators and chemists to address any operational issues.
  • Work with the Technical Manager to develop new analytical testing services that may be offered by AmSpec.
  • Negotiate and review contract terms with clients.
  • Maintain effective internal communications to ensure all relevant functions are kept informed of customer needs and organisational changes.
  • Produce sales forecasts to support business review strategy.
  • Ensure the laboratory operates in accordance with AmSpec standards and industry regulations.
  • Ensure control processes, safety measures, and compliance systems are in place.
  • Any other tasks or projects to be assigned by management.
