Medical Laboratory Technologist, Clinical Chemistry (6-Month Contract)


KK WOMEN'S AND CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL PTE. LTD.
[Note: This is a fixed-term coverage position and the contract is non-renewable.]

To perform the administrative, customer service and technical duties required in the processing of laboratory samples at Client Services section, Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine.

Administrative support
  1. Required to perform test requisition into Laboratory Information System (LIS), tally names on request forms against names on samples, paste accession numbers on request forms and attend to specimens that need to be directed to another laboratory i.e. send outs.
  2. Expected to be able to prioritise and manage work during unexpected workflow disruption or increase in workload.
  3. Comply with all policies and procedures in the department.


Customer Service
  1. Greet patients and other laboratory visitors, answer phone calls to required hospital standard, redirect phone calls and visitors to the appropriate person or laboratory section, and provide laboratory results and specific information to nurses and doctors.


Technical
  1. To have a good understanding of specimen types, specimen collection containers, knowledge of common tests, etc. through OJT.
  2. Handle specimens for registration and distribution to the appropriate laboratories.
  3. Prepare special containers for collection of laboratory samples.
  4. Assist in recording temperatures for certain equipment.
  5. May be required to assist Section Leader(s) for data collation / analysis.
  6. Assist in liaising with courier service provider, preparing specimen for oversea testing and tracking the return of results from all referral laboratories, both local and overseas.
  7. Assist in simple troubleshooting in the laboratory processes.
  8. Perform any other duties as assigned.


Job Requirement
  • Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Science.
  • Relevant experience working in a hospital-based clinical Biochemistry Laboratory.
  • Experience in quality assurance for the testing of clinical specimens and Laboratory Informatics.
  • Ability and willingness to work shifts, including overnight, weekends, public holidays and for on-call standbys.
