Role & Responsibilities

As Laboratory Technician, you will be expected to perform qualitative and quantitative physico-chemical analysis by following industry standard or internal test methods in a safe and compliant manner.

• Analysis involves aqueous and hydrocarbon samples such as petrochemical raw materials, process intermediates and finished products (fine chemicals and polymers).
• The techniques employed include chromatography, titration, thermal, physical, optical, atomic and molecular spectroscopy.
• Activities include, sample and reagent preparation, instrument calibration, basic troubleshooting, maintenance of instruments, data, chemicals, consumables, and waste.
• The sample preparation involves weighing, dissolving, diluting, ashing, digesting, etc., as well as adjunct activities (catalysts and additives preparation).

Qualification & Expectations

• Diploma in applied chemistry / chemical / petroleum process technology or equivalent (ITE, GCE O-level with relevant experience).
• While working experience in a chemical research or manufacturing laboratory, preferably in an analytical laboratory of a chemical / petrochemical manufacturing facility is highly desirable, fresh graduates with an aptitude and eagerness to learn are also welcome to apply.
• Applicants must be willing to work in Jurong island (transport provided from Jurong East),
• Open to learning new techniques, instruments, and methods (necessary training would be provided where needed), familiar with Microsoft excel.
• Candidates are expected to perform all activities diligently and safely, work as part of a small team, follow good laboratory practices and good housekeeping.
• Though the normal operation involves only day shift during weekdays, occasionally the role would require extended hours (up to 12 hours) on overtime basis including night shifts, public holidays, and weekends.
