THE ROLE:

Join our dynamic team of dedicated specialized practice group BD and marketing managers and help drive forward and support the business development and marketing activities of our Asia Corporate Practice and funds sector. As a Senior BD Manager, you will play a key role in growing our Asia corporate practice and support our international client program. You will work closely with the Corporate Client Relationship Partners (CRPs) and the wider DLA Piper teams to enhance business development, relationship management, and service delivery for our corporate clients in Asia.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Reporting to and collaborating with the Head of Business Development and Marketing, Asia, to advance the firm's corporate business development efforts.
  • Facilitate and implement firm initiatives, supporting various corporate activities and campaigns across the firm.
  • Engage directly with corporate clients and internal stakeholders to ensure exceptional services and relationship management.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Pitching - Prepare corporate pitches and capability statements in English, in line with firm guidelines. Working with local office teams, maintain a suite of local capability and pitch materials that are easily accessible and that are in line with the house style
  • Database Management - Work with the office teams to implement local corporate and funds deal capture processes and ensure that fee earners enter relevant deal information in the firm's deal and matter database. Maintain CVs for fee earners in the corporate practice group, working where necessary with local office teams. Ensuring the corporate practice group client distribution lists are established and maintained in the CRM system, InterAction
  • Business Planning - Work with the leaders of the corporate practice and industry groups to develop annual business plans for Asia. Develop and administer the groups' BD & Marketing budgets and monitor spending against budgets
  • Strategic initiatives - Implement firm wide strategic marketing initiatives in Asia, including the firm's client programme. Support and advise partners in all relationship management and business development efforts, including providing support for pitches and client feedback initiatives
  • Marketing - Prepare collateral supporting the corporate group and industry sectors and ensuring it is updated on a regular basis. Ensuring descriptions on the firm's website are relevant and up-to-date
  • Directories - Prepare directory submissions relating to the Asia corporate practice group, working with office teams to ensure local practice submissions are aligned with, and include similar messages to, the regional submissions. Preparing submissions for relevant corporate award ceremonies.
  • Events - Support the organisation and execution of Asia corporate events, including the coordination of any local corporate sponsorships. Working with the corporate team, coordinating speaking engagements of fee earners and looking for internal and external publicity opportunities.
  • Team - line management responsibilities for one Asia based corporate executive.
  • Other - Handle any other duties and responsibilities as identified from time to time by the Head of Marketing, Asia. There will be opportunities to be involved in global marketing initiatives working with the wider team.


KEY RELATIONSHIPS:

Key relationships are essential for the success of this role. This position will interact heavily with all levels of the firm around the globe, including:
  • Head of Business Development, Senior Managers and marketing executives;
  • Country Managing Partners, Singapore-based fee earners, Practice Group and Sector Partners;
  • Client Relationship Partners and account managers

REQUIREMENTS AND ATTRIBUTES:
  • Proactive approach with excellent business development skills.
  • Confidence in interacting with senior clients, partners, and business services teams.
  • Ability to foster long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with clients.
  • The successful candidate should have 4 - 6 years of experience in similar roles in an international professional services organisation
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing or a related field required (preferably with CIM and/or MBA qualification)
  • Proficiency in English language skills (both written and verbal skills to communicate with our clients and writing proposals). Understanding and able to converse in Mandarin will be useful when meeting with chinese clients.
