Responsibilities:
  • Lead the underwriting process for marine cargo risks, ensuring accurate risk assessment, pricing, and structuring of coverage.
  • Assess and underwrite complex marine cargo risks, including goods in transit by sea, air, and land, across various industries (e.g., manufacturing, logistics, retail).
  • Develop tailored insurance solutions for large and complex marine cargo accounts, ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines and risk management strategies.
  • Conduct risk evaluations of cargo operations, including cargo handling, warehousing, and shipping routes to identify exposures and ensure the proper coverage is placed.
  • Monitor and review the performance of the marine cargo portfolio, identifying trends and opportunities to optimize profitability and manage risk exposure.
  • Collaborate with the claims team to provide support and technical input on claims-related issues and ensure smooth resolution of claims within marine cargo.

Business Development & Client Acquisition:

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities for marine cargo insurance in the SEA market, including new clients, brokers, and distribution channels.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key brokers, clients, and strategic partners to foster long-term business growth.
  • Attend and actively participate in industry events, seminars, and conferences to promote the company's marine cargo insurance offerings and expand the business network.
  • Work with internal teams (sales, marketing, and product) to develop new products and services that align with emerging trends in marine cargo insurance and customer needs.
  • Develop and implement targeted strategies for expanding the marine cargo portfolio in key markets within Southeast Asia.
  • Provide regular market insights and competitor analysis to inform strategic decision-making and business growth initiatives.


Requirements:
  • At least 6-8 years of experience in marine cargo underwriting.
  • Strong knowledge of marine cargo insurance products and risk assessment, including cargo transits, storage, and logistics.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to negotiate complex deals and explain technical information in a clear and accessible manner.
