Key Responsibilities:
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Advanced Support & Escalation Handling:
Act as the escalation point for L1 database issues, resolving incidents related to Oracle performance, security, storage, and availability.
Troubleshoot and resolve critical database issues such as blocking sessions, memory leaks, corruption, fragmentation, and performance degradation.
Analyze audit failures, replication issues, and access control violations, working closely with application teams and vendors. - Database Administration & Operations:
Perform Oracle database installations, configurations, and upgrades.
Manage backup and recovery strategies using RMAN; oversee local and remote backups solutions.
Execute and validate database restores in test and production environments.
Conduct periodic patching, security updates, and Oracle CPU/PSU application.
Implement and review DB hardening configurations, audit trails, and compliance requirements. - Change & Release Management:
Review and execute complex change requests including multi-script deployments with application dependencies.
Manage changes to DB jobs, both within the database and on associated servers.
Oversee database migrations, ensuring minimal downtime and application compatibility. - Performance & Monitoring:
Perform proactive health checks and performance tuning (SQL plan analysis, AWR/ASH reports, index and memory optimizations).
Reconfigure and enhance database monitoring tools (e.g., Oracle EM, EMS, or custom scripts).
Address alerts related to disk space, CPU spikes, job failures, or hardware anomalies. - Security & Access Management:
Enforce account policies including periodic password resets and user account reviews.
Manage Oracle wallet and encryption setups for data security.
Handle domain and local account issues in coordination with identity and access teams. - Project & Documentation Support:
Participate in handovers and onboarding for new applications and environments.
Contribute to automation initiatives and process improvements.
Document technical procedures, root cause analyses, and resolution steps.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of hands-on Oracle database administration experience (preferred versions: 19c and above)
- Strong understanding of Oracle architecture, ASM, RMAN, and Oracle Data Guard
- Proficiency in SQL tuning, PL/SQL, and Unix/Linux shell scripting
- Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager and other monitoring tools
- Familiarity with ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow) and change control processes
- Ability to work independently on complex issues with minimal supervision
- Willingness to provide after-hours support as part of an on-call rotation
