Key Responsibilities

- Database Management:
Design, install, configure, and maintain enterprise-level database systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
Ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security. - Monitoring & Optimization:
Monitor database performance, implement changes, and apply new patches and versions when required.
Perform capacity planning, indexing, and query optimization. - Backup & Recovery:
Implement robust backup and recovery solutions to ensure data integrity and availability.
Conduct regular disaster recovery drills. - Data Security:
Implement and maintain security protocols to protect sensitive information.
Ensure compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA). - Collaboration:
Work closely with development and infrastructure teams to support data requirements.
Assist in database-related aspects of application development and deployment. - Troubleshooting:
Identify and resolve database-related issues promptly.
Provide support during database outages and critical incidents. - Documentation:
Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, processes, and security policies.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role.
- Proficiency in managing databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or others.
- Expertise in database performance tuning, troubleshooting, and optimization.
- Strong knowledge of database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
- Experience with database security, access controls, and encryption technologies.
- Familiarity with cloud database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, Google Cloud SQL) is a plus.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell, PowerShell) for automation.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications such as Oracle DBA, Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA), or AWS Certified Database Specialty.
- Experience with NoSQL databases like MongoDB or Cassandra.
- Knowledge of data warehouse and big data technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Hadoop).
