Responsibilities
As an individual contributor to our IT Engineering team, you'll have the following responsibilities:
- Design & Implementation: Plan, design, and deploy secure, resilient network and cloud infrastructure in alignment with organizational goals.
- Network Operations: Monitor, manage, and optimize firewalls, switches, and routing infrastructure across office and cloud environments.
- Cloud Networking: Architect and manage secure cloud connectivity (AWS, Azure, GCP) and ensure robust hybrid infrastructure practices.
- Incident Response: Troubleshoot and resolve incidents quickly, escalating when needed and identifying root causes to prevent recurrence.
- Security Posture: Implement and maintain network security best practices, including device hardening, patching, and threat monitoring.
- Automation & Efficiency: Improve infrastructure through automation (scripting or tooling), documentation, and process optimization.
- Project Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams to execute IT and business projects efficiently and securely.
- Mentorship & Sharing: Provide technical guidance to peers and contribute to internal knowledge sharing and documentation.
What You'll Work With
- Identity & Access: Okta (IAM for 150+ SaaS platforms), Google Workspace, Slack, Atlassian, GitHub
- Endpoints: Mac, Linux, Windows, Chromebooks, VDI
Security & Monitoring: Endpoint protection clients, SIEM solutions, modern asset and event monitoring - Cloud-First Architecture: Minimal on-premise hardware, emphasizing remote and zero-trust setups
- Networking: Enterprise-grade switches and firewalls across offices, cloud, and remote users
Required Skills & Experience
- Hands-on experience with enterprise network switches (e.g., Juniper EX, Cisco, Aruba)
- Experience deploying and managing firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet, Checkpoint)
- Proficiency with networking in cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure,
- Strong grasp of TCP/IP, DNS, routing protocols, VPNs, and general networking
- Experience with device hardening, vulnerability management, and patching
- Comfortable with data center infrastructure planning (cooling, power, cabling, rack layout)
- Familiarity with SIEM, network monitoring, and zero-trust security models
Good to have
- Experience in automating your daily tasks by writing scripts (or making use of existing scripts) and tools in Python, bash, terraform, PowerShell
- Experience in Okta identity and access management or similar services such as Jumpcloud, Duo, or Azure AD.
- Experience in virtualization technologies and concepts from VMware or Nutanix
- Proficiency in Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems and concepts
- Working experience in reviewing and assessing data privacy and regulatory requirements for services, systems, or appliances
