Cybersecurity Engineer

 

Work Location: Jurong East, Singapore

Job Type: 2 Years Contract, subject to renewal

 

About the Role:

This role is centered on ensuring the security integrity of software applications throughout the entire development lifecycle. It involves performing in-depth security assessments, threat modeling, and code reviews, while collaborating with various teams (development, QA, cyber security, IT architecture) to integrate and optimize secure practices. The ideal candidate will be hands-on in evaluating SDLC processes, guiding secure development practices, and coordinating incident response and security configuration efforts.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Security Assessments & Threat Modelling
    • Conduct security assessments of API configurations and code implementations.
    • Perform detailed application threat modelling to generate security recommendations.
  2. SDLC Integration & Program Development
    • Evaluate and optimize Software Development Lifecycles (SDLCs) for security integration.
    • Develop and document a comprehensive security program for SDLCs including emerging solutions, control documentation, and secure development training.
  3. Operational Support for DevSecOps & AppSec
    • Support DevOps teams with daily AppSec processes, such as reviewing security alerts, validating urgency, and managing compensating controls.
    • Lead workshops and provide technical guidance to developers on cybersecurity best practices.
    • Perform both manual and automated code reviews and manage peer-review processes with a security focus.
  4. Quality Assurance & Incident Response
    • Collaborate with QA teams to ensure applications are thoroughly analyzed using security technologies.
    • Assist in developing incident response exercises based on real use-case alerts and incidents.
  5. Security Configuration & Cross-Department Coordination
    • Perform security configuration reviews to ensure alignment with established best practices.
    • Coordinate with various stakeholders (development, IT, cyber security, etc.) to develop, validate, and implement end-to-end threat models and security recommendations.
    • Work with cyber operations teams on SIEM alert review and tuning based on threat modelling insights.
  6. Any other tasks and works as and when requested and assigned by the Company.

 

Job Requirements:

 

  1. Education & Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, computer security, or equivalent experience.
    • Work experience that meets one of the following:
      • 2+ years in a cyber security engineer role and 2+ years in a software development role, or
      • 8+ years of related field work with 4+ years in a cyber security role.
  1. Preferred Additional Qualifications
    • Professional certifications in cyber security and/or software development.
    • Experience as an application/product security engineer, enterprise software development, or in cyber security consulting.
    • Familiarity with common vulnerabilities and attack vectors.
  2. Technical & Soft Skills
    • Proven effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Hands-on experience with host/network access controls, tool configuration, and alert tuning.
    • Knowledge of network architecture and secure architecture review processes.
    • Ability to troubleshoot cyber defence infrastructure issues and apply cybersecurity and privacy principles.
    • Proficiency in software, application, infrastructure, and network hardening techniques (e.g., coding best practices, least privilege, segmentation, logging, etc.).
